Franklin Fund
Franklin was the first pet to benefit from a large, dedicated funding effort, hence the name, the Franklin Fund.
Because You Care's Franklin Fund supports severely injured or ill animals who have been abandoned and who are in need of in-depth medical care in order to survive. These loving animals are kind beings who have had misfortune visit their doorstep. Because of the depth of their needs, most shelters would automatically euthanize these animals. The Because You Care Franklin Fund offers them hope by providing funding that allows them to receive the veterinary care that they need.
This Fund exists because of many people - donors, volunteers, and veterinarians who offer discounts for their services to keep costs as low as possible. Please consider helping by mailing in a donation, volunteering as a foster home, or spreading the word about what BYC is all about.
Puppy Mill Awareness
Because You Care has partnered with a Puppy Mill Survivor group to rescue dogs that are retired from a life of backyard breeding or puppies that are getting too old and have not been sold. These dogs are destined for euthanasia because they are no longer of use or are costing money. Neither Because You Care nor our partners give these puppy mills ANY monetary compensation for taking in these dogs. We are jumping in to save them before they are killed; coming to our rescue is their last resort. Since these dogs have lived in such unsanitary conditions and at times without proper medical care, they often come with ailments that require moderate to intensive veterinary care.
Trap, Neuter & Return
Because You Care has a spay/neuter and release program that allows feral cats to continue living outside but after being spayed or neutered and vaccinated for rabies.
This program is for feral and semi-feral outdoor cats only.
